KEN ELDERTS MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

WSAA's annual golf tournament was established in 2016 to honor payments industry veteran Ken Elderts (1962-2016). Ken was one a founding member of the association and served as president of our board of directors from 2007-2009. Course Description:  As the PGA TOUR stop with the largest crowds of any golf event in the world, The WM Phoenix Open brings immeasurable attention and respect to the Stadium Course, designed by the team of Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish. The course, which was renovated in 2014, is most famous for its par-3, 16th hole that transforms into “The Coliseum” during the tournaments and provides fans with one of the most exciting settings in professional sports.

Course Designer:  Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf, renovated in 2014.

Course Notoriety:  The par-3 16th hole on the Stadium Course is the only fully enclosed hole on the PGA Tour. The grandstands that surround the 16th, which have a capacity of 20,000, are home to one of the most enthusiastic crowds on the PGA Tour. A shot that lands on the green will result in cheers from the crowd, while a shot that misses the green will result in boos. Tiger Woods scored an ace (hole in one) on this hole during the 1997 Phoenix Open, sending the crowd in attendance into a frenzy. A hole-in-one has been made on the 16th hole by 10 other golfers in the history of the Phoenix Open, with Sam Ryder and Carlos Ortiz being the most recent to do so in 2022.

Latest News:  TPC Scottsdale has earned a host of honors, including a spot among the top three Arizona golf facilities for service and among the "Top 50 Golf and Resort Destinations in the World," the latter by no less than Conde Nast Traveler.
